Depeche Mode Have you ever done anything out of the ordinary to see a Depeche Mode gig?

Back in 1993 I served in the military in the Royal Danish Navy, and they planned an exercise on the same day as Depeche Mode's Devotional Tour playing at the Forum in Copenhagen. Asking for time off in the military it not an option, so I had to come up with a smart plan to be excused from the exercise. My parents had a silver wedding coming up a few weeks after the gig. Even though they had no plans for a party I “forced” my mom to write a letter asking for one-day absence from the military exercise so I could participate in “their party”.

On the day of the gig I was picked up in the forest in the middle of the exercise, driven back to the base, showered and driven to Copenhagen train station. I stayed behind and saw Depeche Mode in the Forum, Copenhagen, and it was by far the best gig in my life!

Later that year I moved to Detroit, Michigan and I was so fortunate to see Depeche Mode live twice at the Exotic Tour/Summer Tour '94 at the Pine Knob Music Theatre July 3 & 4th 1994 in Michigan, USA. Since than I have seen Depeche Mode live 40 times around the world!

Depeche Mode What would you like Depeche Mode to release on either 12” or CD?

Collecting Depeche Mode:
How to start and end this post? I have been collecting physical releases for 33 years, and have about 700+ Depeche Mode LP´s and CD´s. Once again 1984 was the magic year starting with Master & Servant and Some Great Reward on vinyl. Soon after I was collecting German and UK versions. The CD came along, together with the Internet and a whole new world of collecting opened up with e-bay and online business.

From 1998 I was collecting promos, test pressings, and releases from different countries. I started to travel frequently to North America, South America, Asia and different places in Europe, thus my collecting boundaries became blurry and I was collecting everything my grabbing hands could get hold of;)

The digital age brutally changed any collectors behaviour, but I´m super excited vinyl rapidly increasing market shares. I sincerely hope for more physical Depeche Mode releases in the future;) I would love if they would release the entire back-catalogue including all maxi singles in a double gate folded 180 gram vinyl in different colors;)

Depeche Mode Depeche Mode decor
In our family we love to be inspired and surrounded of visual artworks. It started with a couple of images from the Barrel Of A Gun video on one wall. I have always dreamed to integrate storage for my CD´s and LP´s where the artwork would be part of the décor in our house, so I decided to build my own. Many areas in our house have different references of Depeche Mode and music elements, all connecting the atmosphere we love to live in.

What DM decor would you wish for in your dream house?

Depeche Mode Global Spirit Tour: Never Let Me Down Again
When people ask me why I go to see the same gig night after night, I always show them a Never Let Me Down Again live video. For me this is the moment describing what Depeche Mode is all about. The connection between the band, the music, the fans, and off course Anton Corbijn’s set up is the crystallization of the perfect moment, and describes the unwritten contract between all parts.

I always record a few videos from each night, and on this tour I have made a Never Let Me Down Again video mixed from 5 different cities including the Olympic Stadium in London, the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, the Olympic Stadium in Munich, the opening night in Stockholm, and off course the Copenhagen gig in Denmark. I hope you like it.

Depeche Mode Hello, devotees!

My name is Jesper Lakman, and I'm from Odense, Denmark, the city of the famous fairy tale author H. C. Andersen. It all started in 1984, when I was 12, and I got my hands on L12Bong6, Master & Servant. I knew this would be a life long passion, and 33 years later the fire it still burning. I´m impressed with the commitment from Depeche Mode after so many years, and I'm overwhelmed with the quality of Spirit and the tour. The fairy tale continues, and H. C. Andersen could not have written a better fairy tale!

Depeche Mode It's funny, I've often said that even if the band wasn't playing, I'd still have an awesome time meeting up with friends that I've made through the band's original DMMB and, more recently, Facebook. From Sara in SoCal telling me to GET. ON. A. PLANE., to my troll sistas (love you girls!), to the TT.fm group here in NYC, it's one big family when we get together to celebrate the band and their music. All the love and support I've gotten from my DM friends has meant the world to me, and I know many of you feel the same way.

Depeche Mode I mentioned that I met my boyfriend Scott because of our love for the band. I was online dating, and not having much luck. So in a last ditch effort, I typed "Depeche Mode" in the search box, and Scott was the first person who popped up! He had listed DM as his favorite band (along with New Order, the Cure, etc).

I sent him a note stating "You had me at Depeche Mode :) Let me know if you'd like to get a drink sometime!" His response? "That's a two-drink minimum! What's your favorite album?" We recently celebrated five years of music, laughs, and love thanks to Depeche Mode! Any other stories of devoted relationships out there?

Depeche Mode Years ago (15 maybe), I was on eBay and found someone selling what purported to be "secret tapes" taken during the mid-to-late 80's from Depeche Mode. Curious, I bought this mysterious VHS tape. There are some awesome clips on it, which I had digitized and put on YouTube for everyone's enjoyment. Excuse the 80's VHS tape quality, but it lends a little nostalgia to the clips. If you like DM's cover of Heroes, maybe you'll like this cover of Europe's The Final Countdown...

Depeche Mode Hi everyone! My name is Jenn and I live in Brooklyn with my also-DM-obsessed boyfriend Scott and our cats Caramel and Cajun. I've been a fan for years - my first DM show was in 1990 during World Violation. Since then, we've seen Depeche many times (in all of its incarnations) in the US and Europe. In fact, if not for DM, Scott and I may never have met! When asked why we follow them around Deadhead-style? I say it's because of all of the love and friendship we've found because of the band over the years! Welcome.

Depeche Mode Loving Depeche Mode's music so much and loving synthesizers often make me wonder how they make some of the sounds they use in their music. You can tell they really put their hearts into producing these records, each album has a new unique sound. In such a huge group of Devotees there must be many musicians, what instruments do some of you play?

Depeche Mode One of my favorite memories with Depeche Mode's music:
Going back to my high school years, lots of music was played through the night, but whenever that huge sound from Enjoy the Silence came on, oh, that changed the way I felt immediately, I literally walked around to the beat of that big kick drum, made you feel so good! What good memories in your life do you associate their music with?

Depeche Mode Dark sounds are frequently present in Depeche Mode's music. That's one of the things I really love about it, and that is the case with Memphisto. I went crazy about it when I first listened to that song, then I rushed to the piano to try and play it. This is a simplified cover I did of it, no percussion nor additional synths, hope you like it! Which song do you think is their darkest sounding?

Depeche Mode Hi everyone! My name is Arturo Sáenz and I'm from Costa Rica. Although I'm fairly familiar with DM's music, it wasn't until this year that I became obsessed with it! I enjoy making music very much so I'm always trying to find new ideas to explore, well, Depeche Mode was my biggest discovery this year by far. I started with Violator and I was absolutely blown away, I actually ended up playing Memphisto for hours that night until I finally got it right!
Very excited to get a chance to share some memories and music with everyone!

Depeche Mode My night as a new devotee:
As my last post I want to share with you some pictures and a video of the amazing concert in San Siro. The cover of Heroes was one of the most moving moments of the show. I hope to see them live again soon, probably during this tour always in Milan, it could be amazing!

Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts with all of you 😉 I can’t wait to read other exciting stories from both newer and hardcore fans!
Kisses from Italy!
