This was last week at Y2K17 International Livelooping Festival Santa Cruz - performing a song accompanied by Jorge Medina aka. MIDI Pipe.
Captured by Sandra Taylor. (Thanks for all the wonderful pictures, Sandy!)
The snapshot sums up something that is crucial for the spirit of these events and the community: Jorge and I met during the Livelooping Festival in Mexico earlier this year, now we both played again in California. (And besides, I'm playing the gorgeous 12-string guitar of my dear looping friend Rick Walker.)
As people who are using loop samplers as what I call the band substitute for the socially awkward, (almost) all of us are lonesome cowboys on stage. Makes it even nicer that it's not a rare thing for spontaneous jams and collaborations, even across genres, to sprout from exactly that. Well, to cut a long story short, I'm really grateful to be part of this group of people.. <3
